Surim New Wave 2026 is a performance festival that highlights traditional musicians who have established their own unique musical worlds. The event takes place every Thursday at 19:30 from August 27 to November 5 at the Kim Hee-soo Art Center SPACE1.
The festival features ten different artists exploring the theme of "Eot" (deviation or misalignment). One featured performance, "Eot - Pulse" by Jung Eun-hye on September 17, is a fusion music project that expands the traditional pansori technique of "eotbuchim" (creating tension by deviating from the beat). This performance combines traditional pansori, a bassist, and a looper to explore human contradictions and tragic emotions through a five-part setlist.
