Every year during the first week of September, the entire city of Seoul transforms into one giant art stage. Seoul Art Week colors the daily life of the city with art and has established itself as Seoul's representative art festival. During this period, a diverse range of art spaces across Seoul—including art museums, museums, galleries, and art fairs, as well as alternative and emerging spaces—participate to present various exhibitions and programs.
From large-scale curated exhibitions at major museums to experimental projects and artistic attempts unfolding throughout the city, Seoul expands into one massive art platform for a week. Seoul Art Week is a place where art, the city, and people meet. It is a time to experience the culture and arts of Seoul, where each district possesses a different atmosphere and rhythm, and to discover together the colorful artistic energy embraced by the city.
