Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival (통영한산대첩축제)

The 65th Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival is one of Korea’s leading patriotic history and cultural festivals, commemorating the victory at the Battle of Hansan, one of the three great naval victories of the Imjin War, and honoring the spirit and leadership of Admiral Yi Sun-sin.

Held throughout Tongyeong around the anniversary of the victory, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month (August 14 in 2026), the festival features programs that bring this historic event to life, including a reenactment of the Battle of Hansan, the Parade of the Three Provinces Naval Commander, the departure ceremony, and a victory homecoming ceremony.

Visitors of all ages can enjoy traditional cultural experiences, performances, exhibitions, marine leisure activities, media content, and nighttime programs. Set against Tongyeong’s beautiful coastline and rich historical heritage, the festival blends tradition and modern creativity while continuing to grow as a globally recognized festival of history and patriotic remembrance.
